Day "30"

Jeff has officially been in the U of U BMT Unit for five weeks today! If his counts continue to rise as "scheduled"--.1 each day, we shouldn't be here much longer. His counts were ANC=.4 and White Blood=.79! He looked and felt better than he had in at least a week. The pain and nausea were still there, but they were able to control it better. He barely squeaked by without blood or platelet transfusions, which meant he had a quiet, peaceful day. As far as the collapsed lung goes, the doctor is not going to worry to much about it unless Jeff gets a fever--because that would be an indication of an infection!

Just in case you are unaware...there are eight days until Christmas! :) And...we are missing a very unusual St. George snow storm! :(

My name is Vanessa Bushnell Barben! I went to Dixie with Jeff - I heard about him being sick from Melanie Taylor's blog! I was always so impressed with Jeff - he has always been such a friendly guy and pleasure to be around! I've been checking your blog daily every since I heard - just haven't commented yet! You seem like a DOLL! I'm very impressed with your support and positive outlook each day! Jeff is VERY lucky to have ya! Your family is just DARLING!! I teared up when I saw the bald men - SO touching! Anyway, I just hope you both know we at the Barben household are thinking about you and praying for you! Hang in there!! :)
*I'm a nurse (RN) and sure do appreciate all the numbers and such you include! Very interesting! Sounds like they are treating you well!

I finally got the name of your blog the other day. I have been dying to know how things are going for you guys. I am so impressed by the way you keep up with this everyday. I loved looking back at all your entries and seeing all the progress he has made. He has come a long way in a few weeks. I am always so impressed and amazed by your positive attitude and your ever present smile. You both are such a great example to everyone. We think about you often. Kelsee asks when you're coming back. She misses you. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you down here...we are coming up for christmas if there is anything you need brought up.

Yeah for the progress Jeff is making!! I can't believe you missed the snow either!!! It is crazy but you are in a much more important place... Don't worry though cuz I'm sure it'll snow again in about 10 - 12 years! lol

Jeff, when I heard about you from one of our teachers, I was in shock. I had not seen any of your family and had no idea what you had been through. We are glad to hear that you are doing so well. You are a great individual with many talents and a great big heart who deserves the best in life. We will check your blog often now that we have the sight and hope that you will be back in St. George soon.
We actually sold our home and have moved across formaster ridge behind Fossil Ridge Intermediate school. It is a smaller home, no mortgage and in a good neighborhood. We will miss seeing all of you at the pool. But maybe it can still happen. Take care, May God be with you and your family.
